Tugan Sokhiev Conducts Brahms with Nelson Freire via medici.tv

July 2 | 11:30am PDT

Tugan Sokhiev and the Orchestre National du Capitole invite the great pianist Nelson Freire to join them at the Halle aux grains de Toulouse for a concert dedicated to Brahms that will stream live via medici.tv. Nelson Freire’s playing combines poetry and virtuosity, and he will open the concert with Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 2. Then, under the baton of Tugan Sokhiev, the Orchestre National du Capitole interprets Brahms’ Symphony No. 1. Considered by Hans von Bülow as Beethoven’s Tenth Symphony because of its strong reminiscent of Beethoven’s style, it embodies a return to classical symphonies. This piece presents major challenges due to its structure and its themes, and classical music fans can enjoy the performance live without traveling to Toulouse, France.
