Former Youtube sensation Charlie Puth has definitely graduated to the big leagues, and this year marks his first North American tour. The New Jersey-born singer first caught the world’s attention with his when his silky vocals and star-ready good looks won 2011 Perez Hilton’s talent competition, with his cover of Adele’s ‘Someone like You’. Following chart-busting collaborations with Meghain Trainor, Wiz Khalifa and Lil’ Wanye last year, Puth is making 2016 with his own with the release of his long awaited debut album Nine Track Mind. It includes the singles ‘Marvin Gaye’, ‘One call Away’ and ‘We Don’t Talk Anymore’. When Conor Oberst began releasing music back 20 years ago, first as a solo artist and later as Bright Eyes, he was just a teen from Nebraska. Everyone was amazed at how just a kid could write and record at such a prolific pace, producing inspired, adventurous songs with a truth and world view beyond his age. Now in his mid-30s, Oberst is already a veteran, with dozens of albums behind him. He returns this fall with one of his most intimate records of his impressive catalog. NPR Music calls Ruminations “a spare, all-acoustic collection of meditations on politics, religion, relationships and where he finds himself in an ever-evolving and complicated world.”. To celebrate the release, Conor Oberst will perform Ruminations in a special First Listen Live from the Housing Works Bookstore Cafe in SoHo, New York, at 5 p.m. PT on Friday, Oct. 14, streaming live via NPR Music’s Facebook Page.
