Austin City Limits
Austin City Limits is thrilled to welcome back hometown heroes The Black Angels for their second ACL taping. Death Song is the Austin psych rock masters’ first full-length release in four years, and their debut for Partisan Records. Written and recorded in large part during the recent election cycle, the music serves as part protest, part emotional catharsis in a climate dominated by division, anxiety and unease. The eleven-track collection offers a sharply honed elaboration on their signature sound – menacing fuzz guitar and cutting wordplay, steeped in a murky hallucinatory dream. The band has toured with Queens of the Stone Age, Brian Jonestown Massacre, the Black Keys and more, and played festivals such as Glastonbury, Fuji Rock, Primavera, Harvest Fest, Coachella, Bonnaroo, Fun Fun Fun Fest and, of course, Austin City Limits Music Festival.

DJ Mag Live
Already a universally respected and in-demand producer, Alan Fitzpatrick has succeeded in carving out his own musical niche within the ever-expanding genre of techno, earning him the reputation of a seemingly unstoppable source of hit music. Tracks such as ‘Love Siren’, ‘Truant’, ‘Skeksis, ‘For An Endless Night’, ‘Always Something For Nothing’ and ‘Reflections’ (a BBC Radio 1 Essential New Tune) have all topped sales charts since 2009, drawing high praise from peers and tastemakers across genre divides for the vibrancy, originality and inventiveness that has come to characterise Alan Fitzpatrick’s music. Whether he is adding diva vocals to cavernous beat workouts, fusing emotive chord sequences with trademark heavy-funk grooves, blending jungle beats and hardcore bass lines with barnstorming techno dynamics, or conjuring up sumptuous low-slung soundscapes; Alan Fitzpatrick knows how to move your mind, body and soul by delivering tracks that stand out from the norm. Don’t miss him live from DJ Mag Ibiza!

Kat Wright, whose voice is both sultry and dynamic, delicate yet powerful; gritty but highly emotive and nuanced, has been described as “a young Bonnie Raitt meets Amy Winehouse”. Ad that voice to enough stage presence to tame lions, and the combination of feline femininity proves immediately enchanting. There’s soul flowing in and out of her rock ‘n’ roll with a serpentine seduction. Some of soul music’s sweet, grand dames belt, shout, seethe, and succumb, while Wright sings gently like a heartache’s apology. It’s funky in spots and beautiful all over. And it hurts a little…like it should.
