AOL Build Series

Born in New York, Peter Cincotti has performed in some of the world’s most prestigious venues — from Carnegie Hall to L’Olympia in Paris — and has collaborated with artists ranging from Andrea Bocelli to David Guetta. The singer, songwriter and pianist is now set to release his fifth studio album, “Long Way From Home.” In a departure from his past work, this album incorporates active, rhythmic piano playing with a pop twist. The 12-track album has the musician effortlessly blending pop, rock, blues and jazz in his own signature style. Cincotti joins the AOL Build Series in New York City to discuss the new album and perform a few songs.

Dick Hyman & Bill Charlap, jazz piano: “…We Also Take Requests”

October 14 | 5:00 PM Pacific

92nd Street Y

This rare duo concert will feature our adored current and former Jazz in July artistic directors. Hear Dick, the NEA Jazz Master widely regarded as “one of jazz’s most spellbinding virtuosos” (Wall Street Journal) and Bill, the Grammy Award-winning musician whose artistry Downbeat calls “a master class in, well, class” in an evening of virtuoso duo piano improvisations on standards. Got a favorite song? They’ll also be taking requests! “Hyman (is) the living, breathing, swinging encyclopedia of jazz piano history, from ragtime and stride to bebop and beyond.” (NPR) “Charlap approaches a song the way a lover approaches his beloved… no matter how imaginative or surprising his take on a song is, he invariably zeroes in on its essence.” (TIME magazine).
