London-based Brit-rockers Wolf Alice invade North America twice in the next four months, with appearances at small to medium-sized clubs, record shop in-store performances, and a just-before-dark festival slot at L.A.’s CalJam. If the band’s trajectory across the pond is any indication, these gigs might be your last chance to catch them in anything close to an intimate setting. Here’s a few notable things they’ve been up to lately:
Visions of a Life – The group released their second full-length studio album, Visions of a Life, on September 29, and the reviews so far have been overwhelmingly positive. NME went so far as to call them the “Best band in Britain,” and they’ve been in a neck-and-neck race with Shania Twain for the number 1 spot on the U.K. charts. For North American listeners who may have missed the band’s debut full-length, 2015’s My Love Is Cool, the new record offers a perfect introduction. Check out one track, Yuk Foo, here:
On the Road – In 2016, acclaimed British filmmaker Michael Winterbottom and his crew followed Wold Alice around for 16 shows over the course of three weeks. The result is On The Road, a part-documentary, part-drama feature film about life in a touring band. Footage from the trailer shows just how big a sensation Wolf Alice already is in the UK, and the mainstream exposure of a film like this will only grow their fanbase. On the Road releases in the U.K. this month; no word on a U.S. release yet.
Still on the road – Wolf Alice’s tour schedule reads something like a geography class study guide. In the next four months alone, they’ll play 50 shows in the U.K., Europe, Japan, Canada, and the U.S. In Seattle, they’ll stop by KEXP, where they’ll record and live-stream an in-studio session. Check out this performance from their last stop at KEXP below:
