The Kennedy Center for Performing Arts – Millenium Stage
After releasing two ambitious studio albums and relentlessly touring for the last three years, Providence, Rhode Island–based, avant-rock trio Arc Iris is ready to unveil its next project to the world— a complete re-imagination of Joni Mitchell’s seminal album Blue. Whereas acoustic guitars and minimal arrangements are some of the hallmarks of Mitchell’s original recording, Arc Iris’s interpretation mixes the sounds of symphonic analogue synths, heavy drum beats, and sampling, while the iconic songs themselves are never swallowed up by the tide of these inventive arrangements. Arc Iris began as a solo project by Jocie Adams, a former member of The Low Anthem.

Jazz at Lincoln Center
Despite his relatively young age, Warren Wolf is widely regarded as a leading force on the vibraphone. A protégé of vibraphone great Bobby Hutcherson, he recently performed to rave reviews in Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Celebrating Bobby Hutcherson. Wolf has also been a member of Christian McBride’s Inside Straight and the SFJAZZ Collective, and he is an excellent small group leader whose debut album in 2005 featured Mulgrew Miller, Vicente Archer, and Kendrick Scott. These sets are highly recommended for those interested in new music steeped in the traditions of straight-ahead jazz and bop. With vibraphonist Warren Wolf, pianist Brett Williams, bassist Vicente Archer, drummer CV Dashiell, and vocalist Imani-Grace Cooper.
