Friday, February 2nd at 3:00PM Pacific on PressureDrop.tv
After a busy 2017, our friends at PressureDrop.tv are back at it with their first live stream of the new year, featuring Los Angeles noise punks Prettiest Eyes. PressureDrop consistently produces high-quality, unique live performances from some of the best up-and-coming underground artists, ranging in genre from alternative and punk to hip-hop and electronic to everything in between. This Friday’s event is sure to be no different. Here’s what you need to know:
PressureDrop.tv – For those unfamiliar with PressureDrop, start by checking out their recent streams to get an idea of what they’re all about. In 2017, they filmed Merchandise playing on a bluff overlooking the ocean, Dude York in a grafitti-covered secret skatepark, Priests in a house in Oakland, and L.A. Witch in someone’s backyard, to take but a few examples. Despite the many production challenges that these unique live settings present, they have the sound element down. We can’t wait to see what kind of spot they’ve scouted for the gig on Friday.
Prettiest Eyes – Based in L.A. but featuring members from Mexico and Puerto Rico, Prettiest Eyes plays a mash-up of chaotic synth-heavy industrial and a psychedelic brand of noisy post-punk. It’s lo-fi and loud; come first for the energy, but stay for the melodies hidden just beneath the surface. With an established underground presence thanks to a few years’ worth of rowdy gigs around the L.A. area, Prettiest Eyes is a perfect choice to kick off the year on PressureDrop. Check out the music video for their new track “Don’t Call” here:
Pools – The three-piece’s latest effort dropped last November and saw a vinyl release on Castleface Records. After a series of local shows, the band hits the road for a full U.S. tour and, later this year, an appearance at This Is Not A Love Song fest alongside Beck, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Vince Staples, and many more in France. Give the record’s title track a listen below, and if you like the PressureDrop set, catch them yourself in one of these cities.
