Electronic Empires is a new audio-visual commission for New North and South that takes us on an international musical adventure. Influenced by world music, indo-jazz, rock, indie and modern electronic music this new new work fuses musical disciplines and cultures 71 years after Indian and British partition. Alongside the live musical performance, Electronic Empires’ A/V work will explore global topics including Indian cinema, sound design in a new DIY ‘cut up dub punk club’. Using hand drawn graphic art and rich content from location shoots around India and Manchester, the A/V artists and music makers are curious, and will tell the story of the Shapes, Sounds and Signs of Things to Come in this stunning and thought-provoking immersive performance.

What started with a prime roster of house and techno DJs at the fire-breathing Arcadia spider stage grew to 33 international brand events in 2017. Resistance planted musical flags from Shanghai to Ibiza but returns to Bayfront Park ready to lay claim to three days and two stages with some heavy hitting talent. Adam Beyer joins a previously announced set from Jamie Jones, as well as a back-to-back set from Dubfire, Nicole Moudaber and Paco Osuna, and the four-way supergroup J.E.S.u.S., (aka Jackmaster, Eats Everything, Seth Troxler and Skream).
